Charon, 2017, 120 x 210 cm, photo tapestry, 168 ultra-gloss photos on plywood panel, edition 1/1, courtesy of the artist, Clermont-Ferrand, France.

The ferryman of the death. But not a monster, I see him more as a gatekeeper, a guide – granting passage to all who can pay his price. It is youth and beauty I wish to take me onto the next plane, not a nightmarish ghoul. So the vigorous, youthful Charon, immersed into the thick, red waters that divide the realm of the living and the dead, solemnly pushes onwards, ever closely to each and everyone of us.
